Description

This browser repeatedly contacts content-autofill.googleapis.com, even with search suggestions disabled and non-Goigle search engine.

Environment

• Device: Nokia 2.2
• OS: Android 11
• Version: 1.9.17

To reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

1. Open Fulguris with a new / blank session, starting at the bookmarks page
2. Check network traffic in Rethink
3. See Fulguris making requests to content-autofill.googleapis.com

Expected behaviour

I expected it not to contact content-autofill.googleapis.com for no apparent reason.

Lightning browser has similar behaviour, but DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser doesn't.

Thanks for looking into that. Could you try to disable autofill in your system settings and see if it helps?
Which app did you use to monitor network traffic?

Does autofill work with DDG?
Are you running Lineage OS?
What's your WebView version?

Nevermind, DDG browser actually also calls up Google autofill. It just didn't do it at first. It's probably a Webview issue. I'm running stock Android 11.
