Hello, since Magento2 is out now, we do not plan to add new features to this module. But I will continue to support it and provide fixes to submitted issues if needed.

Does 2.0 have MongoDB built in?

Nope, Magento 2 does not have a built-in support for MongoDB. We may add it later if we feel it is necessary, or maybe switch to an other NoSQL storage engine.

Question still remains open for the moment on our side, but don't worry, if we create a NoSQL backend for Magento2, it will be released open-sourced here.
