For documenting development of iVolunteer
Rich and Dave are leading a group of (primarily) Boulder-based folks
to build a location-aware web site and iPhone application. Both of us
worked for non-profits earlier in our careers and we’d already worked
on an iPhone application via StartupWeekend
(http://boulder2.startupweekend.com/). We searched the app store and
couldn’t believe someone hadn’t done this already.
Our goal with iVolunteer (working title) is to make it really easy for
people to find ways to volunteer and get involved in their community.
Specifically, we want to enable volunteer “dating”: connecting busy
people with one-time low-commitment volunteer and social action
opportunities of interest nearby, rather than longer-term commitments.
The plan is to provide events within the US at launch and ultimately
events anywhere in the world.
