unicopia

Beeeeeeeg changelog detailing everything that's changed since 1.0.0! Thanks everyone for filing issues and give their feedback on the mod. This update includes a lot of the changes and suggestions that have been made since the release of 1.0.0, as well as a lot of bug fixes. Not everything has been fixed (i.e. pehkui), but I've tried to get to everything that I could which wouldn't involve a very major change to the mod.

Changelog

Magic

  • Fixed spells breaking bedrock #103

  • Damage is no longer dealt to the player if the consumed mana is zero (or equates to zero hearts consumed)

  • Magic spells are now cancelled when the player no longer has enough mana to sustain them

  • Players can now reach a max level of 1000 (up from 901)

  • Added a crafting recipe for the bubble spell

  • Added a visual effect to the spell book's profile page when a player reaches max level

  • Added Dispel Evil

    • Check the corresponding spellbook page for what this one does
  • Added magic staffs

    • Magic staffs are an alternative to using gems. They allow other (non-magical) races to cast spells without having to go through the magic system that's unique to unicorns.
    • You craft a magic staff with 2 sticks and a gem places diagonally in the crafting grid.
    • A regular gem gives to a regular staff with no spells assigned. You can then use the staff on certain hostile entities to harvest a different spell from them.
    • Crafting with a pre-enchanted gem will also give you a corresponding staff

Hud Changes

  • Made first/second/gem spell selection less confusing
  • cast and shoot now both use the slot that's visually selected in the hud
  • swapping between first/second slot is done only by sneaking
  • there are now messages in the hud indicating the spell being cast
  • gems now have a cooldown after being used
  • holding a gem now changes the selector icon and title to make it clear that spells can be swapped
  • activating an ability whilst holding a gem changes the message to indicate you're casting the spell from the gem rather than your spell slot
  • ability titles now reflect what they do when sneaking
  • equipping a spell from a gem whilst in creative mode no longer consumes the gem's spell

Artifacts

  • Added Meadowbrook's Staff

    • crafted from 3 sticks in a diagonal.
    • See the corresponding spellbook page for more details
  • Added Grogar's Bell

    • This item can be used to collect magic from entities. Once charged, you can use it to refill your own mana
    • Using a charged Grogar's Bell with wings of icarus in your offhand will charge the wings of icarus instead
  • Wings of Icarus

    • Crafting now give you a Wings of Icarus with half charge rather than zero.
  • Alicorn Amulet

  • Adjust damage amount when removing the alicorn amulet

  • The Alicorn Amulet will now produce atmospheric sounds when placed in an item frame

  • Alicorn Amulets in item phrames can now steal the charge from Grogar's Bell if a nearby player is holding one

Enchantments

  • Update enchantment obtainability:

  • gem_finder, want_it_need_it, stressed are now a treasures

  • poisoned_joke can only be found by trading

  • Gem Finding

    • Mining dirt, grass, and stone with gem finding now give you a chanc of dropping gemstones
  • Heavy

    • All armour can now be enchanted with the Heavy enchant
  • Metamorphosis

    • Fixed metamorphosis potion effects not being removed when complete #106
    • Dying from metamorphosis should now more reliably switch the player to a new race after they respawn #106
  • Want It Need it

    • Creepers are no longer affected by Want it Need It
    • Skeletons no longer become stuck shooting at the ground after killing their target
    • Mobs will now go after entities with unequipped Want it Need It enchanted items
    • Fixed items being deleted when picked up by skeletons
  • Added Consumption

    • Tools enchanted with this effect will consume the drops from mined blocks and will produce XP in its place
  • Added Heartbound

    • Items enchanted with heartbound will stay with the player after they die.
    • Every time you die there is a small chance of the item losing one enchantment level which you can change with the Luck, Unluck, Dolphins' Grace, and Bad Omen status effects
    • Earth Ponies are naturally more lucky

Bat Ponies

  • Bat ponies are now nocturnal and can only sleep during the day. The day will be skipped if all bat ponies on the server are sleeping. #108
  • Added particle effects to bat pony screeches
  • Bat Ponies are now more stealthy #109
  • Mob are less likely to see them in low-light conditions, unless you punch them

Earth Ponies

  • Earth Ponies now have their own dash ability similar to pegasi. Unlike pegasi, they can use this to smash walls.

Pegasi

  • Added an advancement for killing phantoms whilst flying

Flight

  • Turbulance is now more forgiving and will only start to ramp up for longer flights
  • Flight is now activated by double-jumping to accommodate players who like to jump whilst sprinting
  • Fix flight interactions with the heavy enchantment not properly making the pegasus heavier/slower
  • Flight controls have been slightly tweaked based on the feedback by @drowsiestpriest #113
    • Pegasi start off without losing any altitude and will gradually start to drop more quickly
    • Flapping now resets your altitude drop
  • Holding space will no longer cause you to gain altitude (you use flapping for that). Instead it will cause you to "glide" effectively reducing your upwards and downwards motion for longer distance coasting.

Game Rules

  • Added weatherEffectsStrength to control how strong turbulence is. Setting it to 0 will disable turbulence entirely

Commands

  • Added /cast to cast spells and test functionality. #102
  • Certain commands that were only available in beta are now available again
  • Adjusted permission levels for some of the cheaty commands
  • Setting a player's race to unset using /race set will now cause them to have to pick a new race
  • You can no longer use /racelist with the unset race (adding it to the list had no effect in the first place)

Advancements

  • Added an advancement quest line for playing as an earth pony and farming rocks

Misc

  • Added EMI recipe supports

  • Metamorphosis potions now appear as trades for the wandering villager #100

  • Added new creative tab and advancement screen icons

  • Add fancy new translations for the experience level description

  • Player levels are now dynamically converted into roman numerals all the way up to 1000!

  • Added mangoes

  • Added pineapples

  • Added bananas

  • Added palm trees and related wood type

  • Using pick block on zap leaves will now give you an item with the corresponding stage

  • You can now obtain flowering zap leaves in creative mode

  • Muffins now interact with certain redstone components

  • Ponies that can cast magic now have horns that light up when they're casting

  • Fixed catapult spell constantly refiring when cast using the cast ability

Bug Fixes

  • Updated Fabwork to the latest version
  • Fixed various other wandering villager trades not appearing
  • Fixed a typo in the description for the location swap spell
  • Fixed a typo in the tribe selection screen #114
  • Fixed missing translation for death.attack.cold
  • Fixed creative mode players are unable to equip items with binding curse from trinket slots emilyploszaj/trinkets#237
  • Fixed emotes
  • Fix null exceptions when an entity says it has a vehicle but actually doesn't #118
  • Fixed ponies without magical abilities being able to use gemstones to switch spells
  • Added missing translation string when being respawned by the metamorphosis potion

  • Changed the "persistent" property on zap wood blocks to say "natural" (to be in line with its meaning)

Compatibility Fixes

  • Fixed error rendering passengers in the HDSkins preview screen #119
  • There is now a dimention_type tag named c:has_no_atmosphere that players (and other mods) can add their dimensions to.
    This can be used to add support for mods that do outer space type content, to indicate to Unicopia that pegasi should not be able to fly in their custom dimension. #120
