Fetch

Simple fetch command written in rust

NOTE

This tool is still in development so things might change quickly or (worst case scenario) break.

If something breaks, please refer to this documentation or file an issue on GitLab or GitHub!

Installation

First git clone and enter the repository:

$ git clone https://gitlab.com/SpamixOfficial/fetch && cd fetch

There's 3 ways to install fetch:

Option 1 (The preferred way)

Use this if you want to use cargo make

Prerequisites:

For a system-wide install (requires sudo)

# cargo make install

For an user install

$ cargo make install-user

Option 2

Use this if you don't want to use cargo make, but you can use make instead

Prerequisites:

  • Rust version 2021
  • Cargo
  • make

For a system-wide install (requires sudo)

You can specify BIN_LOCATION= if you want to change where it is installed

Default install location is /usr/local/bin/

# make install

For an user install

You can specify USER_BIN_LOCATION= if you want to change where it is installed

Default install location is ~/.local/bin/

$ make install INSTALL_MODE="USER"

Option 3

Use this if neither of the options before worked for you

Prerequisites:

  • Rust version 2021
  • Cargo

For a system-wide install (requires sudo)

# cargo build --release && sudo cp ./target/release/fetch /usr/local/bin/fetch

For an user install

$ cargo build --release && cp ./target/release/fetch ~/.local/bin/fetch

Adding your own logo

Since only a few logos are included by default, no linux distro logos are included.

To add your own logo, create a /etc/ascii-art file and paste your art in there.

Fetch will automatically use that file if it exists
