From telegrams all were expelled and here there is silence. |
New test build of RR online here (https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=962339331459002251)@Oleggluk . Please test and let me know if there are any problems ;) |
@friedensfurz Looks pretty stable. I have time 1.40 nights, I can not test for a long time. I moved from RR5.8.5 to RR6.1 without formatting Date section, all applications are saved, except contacts !!! (before the firmware I deleted only Magisk and xposed). I also did a wipe system, cache and dalwick cache. In RR6.1 there are no physical button settings, but my button settings have been saved from RR5.8.5!. The camera does not work at all. Snap camera only takes pictures. The Internet works, wi-fi works, vpn works .. I really want to sleep)) |
@Oleggluk Thanks for testing that. Is the camera really not working at all? And the main thing, are Apps working fine ? Some people have a new storage issue on Lineage and it is not possible to modify any file, only creating and deleting works. If there is an issue, the call history will be emptied after every call. Thanks for testing and if there's any other issues, just write them here ;) |
@friedensfurz Concerning the problems of changing files, I noticed only one problem, in X-plore I can not edit text files, but this is possible with other file managers. The camera in my cell photographs gray squares. Snap camera takes pictures well. Video shooting does not work anywhere. I can not check the history of calls, I'm an Internet maniac)), calls are not for me)). |
@friedensfurz There is no problem with the history of the call. But I do not see any advantages from using android 8.1. For me, android 7.1.2 is more suitable and more familiar. |
@Oleggluk Thanks for testing that out. One last thing if you (or someone else) tests RR-O again, are heavy camera apps like Snapchat etc. working? I'd be interested if they crash the camera or not. Thanks ;) |
@friedensfurz The company Samsung announced a new budget smartphone on Android 8.1 Oreo from the Android Go project. The characteristics are similar to our device, only we have the Exynos 3 Quad 3470, and the new Exynos 7570 with a frequency of 1.4 GHz. Maybe it can be ported to our phone? Or use some files to complement the Los15.1 and RR-v6.1? |
Hey guys! (Assuming anyone still visits these parts) It's been awhile, but I'm still around and am still using my S5 Mini. Just a small update along with some ROM builds I've done in the last week or so that I figured I would share. ROMS READ ME
Other ROMS I merged the latest Lineage 15.1 sources into my Hardware/Samsung folder for all of these builds as it was needed to build a few of these. Did it break things? I don't know. I have only tested AEX,but please let me know if so. Maybe I will have more time in the coming months to mess with Android more. Here's hoping! Enjoy! |
Hey @Spookcity : which filesystem do you use for the internal storage? I can only copy stuff to the external sd-card but not to the internal storage. I use f2fs as internal filesystem and vfat for external. |
Can't copy stuff with the file manager or with MiX. Already tried different file systems. Guess I'm SOL xD. The AEX boot animation looks nice btw. |
Some quick feedback on the AICP, GZOSP, and XenonHD builds: AICP runs pretty well, but hardware button backlight seems to be non-functional; I could get GZOSP to boot only without GApps or Magisk; XenonHD seems to be running really well, with only LiveDisplay apparently not working (selection is not retained) and very little standby battery drain with Magisk module “Enable Doze for GMS”. |
@Mikahlo Yes,I have only just recently noticed this strange file system issue. I was using AEX nougat until just a week or so ago. I am not real sure where the problem lies, but it seems as if it should be a easy fix,but I'm not real sure. I will try to look into it some when I have a little time. Anyone with any dev abilities want to help me try to get this going? At this point not much works. I have already fixed a few things and spent a fair bit of my free time on it in the last week. It only builds with a bunch of repo picks and a few hacks at this point. I just don't have tons of time.I may be able to do it alone (or not) but it will take forever if so.We could create a telegram group or something if any others would be willing to help out. I haven't heard from anyone in the other telegram group in a long time. Tobias (hennymcc) included,so I can only guess that after bringing many Android versions to our device he may be done. Not speaking for him of course, just a guess. |
Nice to have you all back! @Spookcity That's really nice! I'd love to give you a hand with that, time is not my primary problem, but I don't have too much knowledge about that stuff.. However, the commits that were made to the devicetree when a new Android version came out were not too complicated. I just don't understand (yet :) ) why there must be any changes to the devicetree. Can't it just work with a new Android sourcecode and unchanged device repos? Also, I have recently uploaded some patches to the kernel against CVE: https://github.com/friedensfurz/android_kernel_samsung_kminilte with the help of @cschsz Happy developing ;) |
@friedensfurz : Thanks for the hint! I have no clue how to add apps manually to a group in android but it should be possible to "just" install some apps as system apps at least a file manager. Will try that out. @Spookcity : There is no need to fix this because most users didn't even noticed this strange behavior. Regarding android 9 I'm obviously not able to help. Nowadays time is to short to even get started with compiling stuff :( |
@Mikahlo Moving the non-working apps in /system works, but takes up too much space for me, sadly. There is probably an easy fix via kernel commit though. |
I pushed my Android 9 branches and opened a new issue on here for discussion of this. Please go Here If interested in helping out. Thanks! |
Great and many thanks |
@Spookcity As I said on XDA, your XenonHD build has been rock solid for multiple people I migrated to it, plus it is fast and smooth. If you could perhaps keep that ROM loosely updated, that would be enormously appreciated! :) |
@aelfinn Interesting about XenonHD. Thats a ROM I didn't use too much. Glad to hear though. I'm sure I can find some time over the next few weeks to build an update. AS long as there are no issues,it shouldn't be a problem. |
@Spookcity I'd like to support the request of @aelfinn . I installed your XenonHD build on 2 S5minis for my kids and apart from some really, really minor quirks it performs outstandingly stable and well. |
@fionnb I'm glad you brought this up again. I actually forgot. I may have some time today or tomorrow to grab the sources and attempt a build. If successful I will post it here in the coming days. |
@Spookcity: Thanks a lot in advance! :) Give us a shout if you could use some bug-hunting help! I have a spare lying around, and I’d be happy to help. |
Actually I do have an issue on one of the XenonHD minis now: calendar provider and contacts provider are both regularly (about every 2 days on average) locking up and all apps that try to use them, too. Force closing them from the Apps Config immediately makes them work again. I already cleaned their caches and data, no no avail. All their data is synced in via carddav/caldav apps. I have installed gapps nano but disabled everything that would sync any personal data with google (except play store). This combo works for me on numerous other phones. I do not know, however, if those c*-provider apps are from LOS or from the gapps package. Do you know? |
@fionnb Yes, Calendar Provider and Contacts Provider are ROM related apps I believe. I have built an update,so hopefully those issues will be solved. I ended up needing to build this in virtual box as I use Arch Linux and I suppose since it is a bleeding edge distro that some package(s) are broken for building Oreo ROMS. I couldn't get jack-server to start no matter what I tried. Either way, hopefully it turned out OK. It is completely untested. DOWNLOAD - XenonHD-190113-Unofficial-kminilte Enjoy! |
I built AEX 6.4 a bit ago and kept meaning to post it on here, but forgot. So here it is if anyone wishes to give it a go. Edit: |
I overclocked our kernel from 1.4 - 1.6. I also enabled the lower frequencies (200 and 300mhz) Figured some might wish to try it out. Download 1.6 overclock |
@Spookcity Thank you so much for everything! I broke the Samsung in smithereens (hooray hooray hooray, I'm so glad))). I ordered Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 (4/64) for aliexpress. Good luck to everyone, thank you all, I say goodbye to you. |
hello and good morning! My logcat seems to look not to bad now, but I have crash regarding to fingerprint validity service. I changed biometrics fingerprint to 2.1 but no change. Is fingerprint working in general with P, and with your leos P? Or is it currently broken in general. If you want to check my RR log, please find it attached. |
@rodman01 I have no idea about the LiveDisplay issue. This is the problem I was experiencing. I didn't grab any recent logs from the blackscreen caused by livedisplay, but older ones showed missing libs. No idea what that was about, but it was a bunch of them. For whatever reason it just doesn't seem to work if we include the entries in the manifest. Not sure why at this point. |
okidoki and thanks....i will have a look at it and try to cherry pick / "port" the commit. |
stupid question, because I cannot find the settings: where to enable fingerprint unlock? edit: never mind I found it after flashing leos 16 spookies original and also in my leos build it is in settings available. |
It should be under security and location if it built properly. Otherwise I'd guess something didn't work. Edit: |
@Spookcity The overclocked kernel works well, btw. Would it be hard to enable the higher and lower frequencies in the default kernel of one of your ROMs, or does one have to recompile the kernel? Also, would it be possible to include a version of IntelliPlug? |
@aelfinn Glad to hear its working out! I guess I could try to use anykernel2 so it would just work with any Pie ROM. I'm just not sure of any changes to anykernel and how easy/difficult it would be. I will look into it when I have some time. As far as adding IntelliPlug... It really should just be a matter of cherry-picking the commit since I already added it to my N_custom kernel. Again,I will look into this when I have some free time. |
I have tested RR Test4 for a few days now in everyday use and it works fine for me, no reboots, hotspot works again. |
Thanks for your feedback. I am currently in holiday, but after my return middle of next week, I will update my sources and try another and new build. Maybe I will put a release note in the current RR thread from @friedensfurz if he don‘t mind, but at the moment I am not planning to open a new thread of and for my own. |
AospExtended update This build seems to be running smoothly unlike the previous one. I've been using it for a day plus. Also fixed the messaging app not being built (stupid mistake on my part last time) Download Enjoy! |
@Spookcity I’d be happy to test a kernel! :) |
@Spookcity Hi! Glad to see you are fine. I bought an RN7. I'm happy, 10 hours of screen work in 4G+. Thank you for everything that you did for Samsung, I will never come back))))). Join us). (Google translator) |
so finally is done :-) New RR build is up dan posted on xda. Here it is for your interest too. edit: download link fixed |
@Oleggluk Great to see you around here!! I hope all is well with you. Sounds like it definitely is when it comes to your phone. Ya know,I have been due a new device for well over a year now. It would actually save me a little money on my contract to get a new one,but I am so "out of the loop" on what phones are good and what-not at this point. I am ashamed to admit i needed to look up what the RN&7 was :) I will certainly keep that in mind whenever I finally do decide to move on from my mini. @rodman01 Thanks for the RR build and also the info on your commits. I will look into adding some of these to my main repo as well. Especially the WiFi ones. I don't see how they would be anything but helpful,so thanks! @aelfinn OK,I have built a P_custom kernel and used anykernel2. It should flash on any P ROM. I have basically just added things (optimization flags,CPU governors,IO schedulers etc) that were not a huge pain in the a$$ to bring over from my N_custom branch. When I have time I will try to get more added. I am not going to give a ton of detail about what the kernel includes,so just have a look Here and you'll get a good idea. I used a linaro 7.2 toolchain to build this. I have tested for a few days and it seems stable fro me. Although Ive only really used the zzmoove governor and messed with voltage some. Anyway...Hope it works out and there is some noticed benefits. Download |
@Spookcity Will try a.s.a.p.! Incidentally, the one device in my circle of friends that is running your LOS16 build (2019-06-09) has sporadic reboots, which seem to be associated to incoming/outgoing calls in every instance. Any idea what might cause that or what to try? |
@Spookcity thanks for your new kernel and already downloaded :-) Working well also on RR build. |
Thanks @Spookcity for the kernel. Unfortunately, the phone can´t boot. Could you try to make an 1.5Ghz version, like in Nougat? Or how to solve it?. Thanks in advance |
@aelfinn Thats a weird issue your friend is experiencing with the ROM. I honestly have no idea what the cause may be. I haven't had any reboots while the HWC has been disabled. Perhaps they can get a log to see exactly what is happening. @rodman01 Yeah,it probably will be a series of commits that hopefully will eventually solve the WiFi issue,so these commits are def a step in the right direction. I haven't had any time lately to really look into anything, but hopefully i will have a bit more in the coming weeks. @brAvEiitoOr So weird how the 1.6 overclock works for some but not all. I guess this is just something I will never know the reason for. I mean we are all using the same device with the same CPU. Very weird. Either way, i will do a 1.5 version whenever I have some time. It is not very difficult or time consuming, but right now I just really don't have any time. Hopefully within a week or 2 though. |
@Spookcity She depends on the phone as her main device, so I can’t take it away from her for extended testing. Is there maybe an app that can help in such circumstances? (By constantly taking a log, of fixed length, until some trigger event such as a reboot?) |
@aelfinn Ahh,yes I can understand this. I always used Matlog in the past. Although I haven't in some time as I usually just connect to adb shell now, but this isn't super user friendly. There is probably an option in Matlog for something that would be helpful though I would think. Root is required. |
@rodman01 First, great job tracking this down! This makes a lot of sense. It explains why some have this issue while others don't. It also explains why I don't have this issue as I'm using a very old router that is not very good and almost certainly only has the 2.4 frequency. Sadly I have no clue about how to get a selectable frequency within settings. It seems like this should def be possible. I will try to look into this when I have some time. Hopefully we can figure this out. |
I found a commit to "Add frequency band control in UI" and included already the additionals in the xmls and it is available in wifi advanced settings and gives no error. But its currently doing nothing sure :-) what is difficult to do for me is to add the changes in the relevant java file. The wifi AdvancedSettings.java is not available anymore in pie. I would guess the changes needs to be inluded in configurewifisettings.java. I have tried it but it couldn't be done via copy and paste and my effort leads into building errors. Can anyone assist me? Thanks in advance. |
@rodman01 Hey apologies for the rather late response, but I am away from home for the next week or so...I would think perhaps that this commit could be adjusted and added to the WifiSettings.java file or as you said the ConfigureWifiSettings.java within settings. However,my java skills are rather limited sadly so I'm not sure how much help I would actually be. I will gladly try whenever I am home and find some time though. It would be a bit of trial and error for me to figure it out. |
@rodman01 I didn't forget about trying to get the frequency selection to be switchable in settings. I actually messed with it a bit about a week ago,but sadly had no luck. I was hoping to find some more time to mess with it,but so far I haven't been able to make any. Hopefully soon. Although I think I may lack the needed skill to get this ported over to Pie. |
@Spookcity don‘t worry it would be only an addon and a special thing and nice to have :-) I have also treid and messed around a bit but ended only in build errors. I guess the easiest would be to create an own advanced settings java file. But my knowledge is limited so I can only do it with advanced try and error :-) Currently i am in holiday maybe after next weekend when I am home again I start a new „action“ :-) |
@rodman01 I agree. It would be a nice feature to have though. If I am able to find some time I will try to mess with it some more as well. Enjoy your holiday! |
Hi @Spookcity happy new year 2020. I'd like to, once again, kindly ask if you would mind to try another XenonHD build because the last one is now one year old. Otherwise I'd be happy to hear suggestions what I should try as an alternative. |
Hey,Happy New Year to you as well @fionnb! I hope all is good. Well,my time is super limited lately.Plus,I have recently bought a new device. This does not mean I'm done with the mini though. It's all about time really. I don't remember, but was it XenonHD Oreo or pie? I think I have issues building Oreo ROMS due to jack issues that I was unable to sort out last I tried, but I don't remember. I can try again and download the sources. |
