how to set background color and image; and search excludes

hi thanks for this theme, it works great.

have some question if you don't mind - how to set backgorund color and image - for image tried setting in YAML header but can't get it to work, for background color i tried entering in YAML code, do i need to do html for each page?

where do i put the code for excluding pages from searcg i.e. - $config['search_excludes'] = ['search', 'some/other/page'];
