Original report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/stellarium/+bug/1609234

I know the Telescope Control Plug-in is now a static plug-in, but is it still being worked on? Would it be possible to add a D-Pad to the telescope control GUI? I'm not a programmer but the basic functions are already there. We currently do this by way of the following: "Current object" > increment "Right Ascension" or "Declination" by a few clicks > "Slew”. The D-Pad right arrow for example could do "Current object" + 2 arc seconds of declination on mouse down, then "Slew" on mouse up. This will be very useful for centering objects in the camera field of view.

This is a good task for the community to participate in the contribution into Stellarium. Who wants to help us?

Is it really better to have a separate uncommon piece of hardware, or just use some cursor key (num.keypad?) combination?
