If I can humbly request an interesting feature for Stellarum...
I know Stellarium can take screenshots but it would be nice if the program could record a movie (*.avi, *.mp4, etc.) that will track a sky object and/or simply the observers sky over a selectable period of time at a framerate of the users choosing (time lapse or real-time). It would be also useful to be able to remove any of the menu bars on the screen so that one could (if desired) have only a pure sky covering the screen. Of course, other additions and tweakable settings can be thought of that I'm sure the rest of the community can comment on and come up with. I think it would make a great (and cool) feature!
Thanks for listening...and thanks for making Stellarium an awesome program.

There is enough external screen capturing software available to use. No need for own implementation.
E.g., on Windows 10, use Win+G to bring up the "Game" bar which includes a record feature.
