As the documentation says, the nodeStream function takes two optional arguments, one of which is type, which its default string is nodebuffer.

In the index.d.ts, nodeStream defaults to nodestream instead of nodebuffer.

nodeStream(type?: 'nodestream', onUpdate?: OnUpdateCallback): NodeJS.ReadableStream;
