We considered reducing the character limit because Kate described that in her experience, more description leads to worse outcomes. Kate decided we should just keep it as it is, though. That's how much room there is and we shouldn't misrepresent that.

Something to follow up on later, perhaps - should we help people understand what would be useful to put in the description?
