This document is intended to provide a resource that allows us to track and coordinate the redesign of Forest World better. Feel free to add yourself to the list of assignees if you feel (partly) responsible for this. This issue will be edited with updates in the future.

We need more extensive and creative use of the puzzle feature introduced in "light and magic".

@Karkus476 I think it should be kept special to that level though. We need more other interesting features like this.

@maxteufel There are a lot more possibilities that the level does not consider.

@Karkus476 Please open a separate issue about that. Possibly include details on what could be improved in the existing level or how to add more levels using the feature. Also Cc @SuperTux/level-designers on that separate issue so they get a notification.

My thoughts:

  • Stop using jumpy/spiky, we need forest versions of these.
  • Make it clear what effect fire has on those porcupine-duck things.
  • On "A Mouldy Grotto" make it dark and offer the player the earth powerup
  • Create some animation for the world turning upside down - it's really confusing otherwise!
  • More variations on the "Tux the Builder" theme?
  • Zeeklings should curve down and make a screeching sound before they do so. This indicates to the player that they are coming.
  • It's not clear what happens to fish when they're underwater.
  • The forest underground tileset is rubbish, and not varied enough (levels need to be appealing to the eye too!) We have parallax scrolling!
  • Tux should dance when he gets a key, even if he's small (jump twice?)
  • I can't see which paths I've unlocked!!!!

Edit (@maxteufel, 2016-08-09 06:42 UTC): unchecked forest jumpy/spiky box, we still need a forest spiky.

We have a forest jumpy already. See the redesigned "Going Underground".

  • Zeeklings should curve down and make a screeching sound before they do so. This indicates to the player that they are coming.

The sound should be easy to do, can you search for one (license preferably CC0)?
