Experimental theme for frontend with Flat UI #172
Conversation
Have you considered http://aozora.github.io/bootplus/index.html ?
|
@umpirsky I did not know about it, looking now. So I assume you don't like Flat UI? :D |
Not more then bootplus :p
|
@pjedrzejewski I globally really like it except the main page and the newest products section that should be redesigned IMO (it's only my point of view, and I'm not a designer ^^). Much better than default Bootstrap, quite different, it gives to Sylius a real identity. So 👍 for me @umpirsky I like bootplus but don't you think Sylius should (must) have its own identity ? An ecommerce solution with Google's design is not what I expect as developper or customer (again, it's only my point of view). |
But a designer is definitely missing to a project like Sylius. Don't you guys know somebody ? Even if this person does not want to be too involved in the project, it could be cool to have guidelines, best practices or advices to follow. |
I guess whatever we choose is just a temp, as we will have custom design I dont see how flat ui gives sylius identity.
|
Ok. Real identity was a bit strong you're right @umpirsky. Just wanted to say it is much less common than all others Bootstrap based websites. |
I must say I don't know if I really like it. Anyway, as @umpirsky said, all these CSS frameworks are RAD, meaning temp designs only for Sylius. |
I think less is better, that makes it easier to adapt the website end-design. I like how clear it is now :) |
@pjedrzejewski, your theme is better than default one! But I agree with @jjanvier, Sylius need a designer for the front-end and the back-end. I started the topic for the back-end UI : #157 but I am not a designer too... It is not easy to make proposal... I think we need to choose a JavaScript too, no ? Perhaps wa can open a new issue? |
Perhaps, I can ask help to my brother for the design, more details on http://remilanglade.com. |
Just thought I'd share this for inspiration/bootstrap themes you could straight up use (although that wouldn't exactly make them unique, just not stock bootstrap): http://bootstrapthemes.quora.com/25-Awseome-Twitter-Bootstrap-Themes-For-Better-Bootstrap-Designs |
@OzzieOrca Thanks for suggestion! 👍 |
I'm closing this as I'm in progress of getting a designer for the UI. :) |
@pjedrzejewski : a designer, good news! |
Just wanted to share this with you https://wrapbootstrap.com/themes/admin. Maybe it will give inspiration or be useful. |
@jjanvier I will probably meet with @pjedrzejewski to talk what "we" want about Sylius backend as soon as he get back from his holidays. Yet (at least me =)) know about this page, but I guess we want something "more unique" =) For sure there will be PR/issue if we decide anything =) |
Pawel knows about this page :)

Adding summary chapter
Hey guys,
I've found this nice twitter bootstrap UI kit - http://designmodo.github.io/Flat-UI/ and tried to play with our frontend a bit so that it looks at least a bit less bootstrapish!
Below you can see some screenshots - I also deployed this branch to demo for the moment.
Please keep in mind it's just a proof of concept, I've spent on it ~1,5 hour.
If you like it, we can work on this further, if no - delete the branch. 😈
Let me know what you think, cheers!
