The description of <content> is “contains the text of a declaration for the schema documented.”. Sorry to be dense (maybe I shouldn‘t be doing this in an airport after a red-eye), but what does that mean? <content> does not even contain mixed content, let alone contain text — it contains only element content, and said content is the declaration or definition of the allowed content of the element being specified.

A fair cop. The note could also be improved methinks. How about this for the desc:
"contains a declaration of the intended content model for the element being specified"

I think that’s a lot better, @lb42. Problem is, <content> can be a child of <dataSpec>, <macroSpec>, or <moduleRef> in addition to <elementSpec>.

Changed to “contains a declaration of the intended content model for the element (or other construct) being specified.” at 090c931.
