Features

Pico Mix is a setup I create for the Eigenharp Pico. It has the following features over the factory setup

  • Play mode, so you don't have to keep reselecting instruments
  • Script loaded, which allows new functions to be put on easily accessible keys
  • Half/Half split mode
  • Fingerer
  • Arranger probably other stuff Ive forgotten :o)

Enjoy Mark

Installation

  • download zip from here on github… this IS the latest/best, don't use the ones I previously uploaded to dropbox.
  • Expand the zip file,
  • place setup files into your setups folder.
  • place scripts into you scripts folder

Overview

Pico mix has a number of modes, these are referred to by the color of the mode key that is used to select. The basic principle is one key (top left) takes you into and out of menu mode. so unlike factory setup, you don't have to hold it down its a toggle, so you can always get back to playing with one press… you don't have to select the instrument again (my pet hate of factory). the other key on top, is the mode, which tells you which menu you are in, so you don't move from this when toggling. to change mode, just press the mode key to cycle through.

Modes

  • Playing/Menu, as stated above toggled on one key
  • Green - is considered 'the performance mode', allows you to select parts (described later), and to select normal, split of fingerer mode, and also what the lowest 2 keys (main keyboard) do e.g. up/down octave or next/prev part.
  • Orange - script selection this allows you to load scripts with one key press
  • Red - the original pico menus, with the menu key now on the bottom
  • Blank - Arranger

Songs and Parts

I originally envisaged pico mix as a performance setup, where I wanted everything available so I didn't have to load setups (which is slow). My problem was that I thought for performance going thru the menus was too slow… I wanted to be able change instruments, change keys, change to fingerer mode… all with one key press but there are not enough keys to do this… So after some discussions ( I think with Antonio and Ferdinand), the idea came up of a piece has 'parts', i.e. sections, where one changes key or instrument (or both). so the idea is simple, we could have a script that did all of this… but a script would be too slow… what we need is a talker that is loaded with these actions… So what we could then have is a script that is executed for each song/piece that preloads these talker parts and can then be selected. and that is what the parts mode feature is… A script menu (orange mode) , which allows you with one key press to execute a script which will setup the pico for a particular piece and also load the 'part' talker with actions that are required during the piece. Then you can step thru these parts with the lower two keys on the main keyboard… (back as well in case you repeat passage)… you can also select particular parts in performance (green) mode. The key thing, is you and so what you like in this 'part' talker/action, so it can be as simple as changing octave, or as complex as you can imagine…

Look at the scripts folder supplied for examples on how to do things, and also the names of the scripts required.

Limitations: 8 parts
