🎉 [0.9.0] New Features:

  • Dynamically Named Output Folders

    • There will be a new Outputs directory, and in that, every output will get its own folder based on the original video file name
  • Added ability to stop certain words/phrases from being translated

    • In the new SSML_Customization folder, see dont_translate_phrases.txt
  • Added support for aliases with TTS (Azure Only)

    • You can now use aliases.csv in the SSML_Customization folder to change what should be spoken instead of certain words or phrases
    • For example, you can make "btw" be spoken as "by the way"
    • See here and SSML_Customization/READ_THIS.txt for more details
  • Added support for 'interpret-as' SSML parameter (Azure Only)

    • You can now use interpret-as.csv in the SSML_Customization folder to specify how a word or phrase should be spoken
    • For example, if there is a word TEST, you can have it sounded out as 'T E S T'
    • This will also avoid misinterpretations of abbreviations, such as where the Portuguese TTS voice pronounced "RJ45" as "Rio de Janeiro 45"
    • See here and SSML_Customization/READ_THIS.txt for more details
    • There is also an example csv file

📈 [0.9.0] Other Improvements

  • Moved many translation related functions from main.py into their own file called translate.py. Eventually I will better organize all these scripts.

🟢 0.9.0 → 0.9.1:

  • Fixed subtitle combining feature which was not behaving as intended

🎉 [0.8.0] Major New Features:

  • Support for DeepL Translation via API

    • In cloud_service_settings.ini you can now choose to use DeepL to translate instead of Google Translate. By default it will fallback to Google for languages not supported by DeepL.
    • New formality_preference option in config.ini - This will tell DeepL to translate using more or less formal language, or default. Will only apply to languages that support the feature.
    • Has new requirement for DeepL package, just run pip install deepl
  • New script to automatically apply translated titles, descriptions, and subtitles to a YouTube video

    • The script is TitleDescriptionUploader.py
    • This will require creating a separate google cloud project that has permissions for your YouTube channel. More documentation and instructions to come later.

📈 [0.8.0] Other Improvements

  • New stop_after_translation option in config will prevent the script from synthesizing or building audio, and only translate the subtitles

First release version. You can also just download the most recent files from the main branch, but the releases should be more stable, especially when I'm working on new features and might break stuff.
