Update loop with Brave browser #576
Comments
Maybe related to this one: |
I don't think so. #569 is only a storage space issue |
I can't reproduce the error. Do you still have this bug? |
After 1 day i could update Brave (workaround2). Surprisingly the update loop is always on the release day, after 1 day it updates as expected. On the next Brave update i can post a log if you need. Please give feedback which one you need. Pixel 6 pro was used. |
This would help.
Debug if possible. If not possible, info is also ok. The log tag for all my logs is FFUpdater. |
One more thing - If you encounter this bug again, can you kill FFUpdater and start it again? Maybe also kill the cache? I suspect that some information are still being cached. |

|
Force stop the app results in the same behavior as above. |
It seems that FFUpdater thinks that the already downloaded APK file is the latest one and that FFUpdater don't need to download the latest one. In your logs I can only find "DownloadActivity: Use APK cache of BRAVE." and never "DownloadActivity: Start download of BRAVE." |
|
I think I found the problem. Can you check if the next FFUpdater version works for you? |

(#565) - fix bug: If you click on a update notification, FFUpdater will update the correct app and not the app from the first notification - try to fix update loop (#576) - fix not working automatic APK deletion (#569) - add button to retry a failed installation - inform users that Kiwi Browser is not truly open source (#554) - fix tests, fix bugs, refactor code
With the latest FFupdater, not the Brave update (1.64.122), but the already installed (1.64.116) is redownloaded and installed again. recording_20240411_205324.mp4
Again, clearing cache solves this and the 1.64.122 update is downloaded and installed. |

Still an issue with brave browser (other browsers are updated as expected) with Ffupdater 79.2.2 Again on an update the old (already installed) version is downloaded again. Clearing the cache and the newest update is downloaded.
