As the title said, this afternoon I updated my OS and restart for several times. But when it updated to the latest version, the "Clear" mode and some other modes does not work.

22563 did some changes to the taskbar that broke TranslucentTB. It will have to be updated to fix it.

The new update brings a brand new taskbar called Foldable Taskbar. It have a pointer to judge the taskbar is folded. But old version dont have this function, so it's a null pointer. There is a dilemma in choosing between brand new taskbar without any bug and Translucent TB with a crush while right click on Windows. To use new taskbar, enter "vivetool addconfig 26008830 2" in vivetool. Enter "vivetool delconfig 26008830 2" in vivetool to use old taskbar.

Today, I updated 22572.1. I think it may be a similar reason that the software can not work normally in 22572.1,I hope this bug can be repaired as soon as possible.

@sylveon sylveon changed the title [Win 11 incompatible] In latese win 11 version(22563.1 ni release), it does not have effects. TranslucentTB is incompatible with the new tablet-optimized taskbar available in Windows 11 build 22563 and 22572 Mar 17, 2022

I have the same problem on dev 22581, vivetool didn't work! Now I am preparing to retrive to 22579🙃

I also saw feedback about this issue in the forums, and it is said that Microsoft temporarily turned off this feature.

I don't understand what the problem is. If you guys want Translucenttb to keep working as before, just use vivetool with the command vivetool /disable /id:26008830 Translucenttb is not working with the new taskbar, and we know that @sylveon is working on that, and so far the only way Translucenttb can work is to revert back to using the classic taskbar, which is only possible to revert with the use of vivetool.

I am using Windows 11 Pro, latest insider beta build 22624.1470 and so far I have not had any problem with Translucenttb.

vivetool introduces other bugs so it's not a good option. Better to stay on the build with the old taskbar.

found the following solution to make TTB work again.
Applying the following reg patch:

CAUTION!
Applying changes to the Registry may lead to OS failure / malfunction
Perform at your own risk.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides\4]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides\4\4258784907]
"EnabledState"=dword:00000001
"EnabledStateOptions"=dword:00000001
"Variant"=dword:00000000
"VariantPayloadKind"=dword:00000000
"VariantPayload"=dword:00000000
"FlightId"="FX:1274DCF2"
"ImpressionTime"=hex(b):14,c6,9c,61,8c,fb,d8,01

it worked for me after doing a restart.
No additional programs/tools needed.
TTB woks the way it did before.

Modifying the registry is exactly what vivetool does, with the same benefits and problems. The problem is not vivetool, or modifying the registry as they do the same. It is the black screen that you will have when Microsoft removes the old taskbar after an update (already done in the dev and canary previews). Recovering from the black screen after that requires advanced knowledge. It is possible to recover, but you must be warned about it.

@OrcishElves

This is not for beginners! You really shouldn't post stuff like that. there are many who have not done this before and can destroy win11! >

I've put a caution notice into my last post to aware people of possible consequences.

@KrazyDeinos

Is it exactly the same ? Because vivetool /disable /id:26008830 breaks the sign in picture to a mix of the default blue wallpaper

Dhyfer1 commented Mar 29, 2023

Dev and Canary previews got a black screen after updating to build 25284 because Microsoft is removing the old taskbar making the vivetool hack useless and dangerous.

@okibcn Well, then it seems that vivetool is having problems with those channels, but I haven't seen any problems with the beta channel. Not only I used vivetool to revert to the old taskbar where I can use Translucenttb, I also used it to remove the native file explorer tabs, and I haven't had any problems with the file explorer by removing its useless tabs either.

I attempted to do this but it tells me "The 'addconfig' command has been moved to '/enable' & '/disable' as part of a syntax improvement effort. Arguments are now position independent and clearly labeled, ambiguous strings of numbers are no longer used. /? can be used to view more information about usage.."

That is bring the old taskbar back?
Or it actually fixed it?

addconfig and delconfig they were only using it in older versions of vivetool, in the most recent versions of vivetool it can only be used /enable and /disable, for example: vivetool /disable /id:26008830 to go back to the old taskbar and vivetool /enable /id:26008830 to return the new taskbar

You can't. Those types are UWP types and you can't add them by using regedit. You can use a reg file.

I ended up finding a video and using vivetool gui to fix the taskbar.

W in T actual F? 🤷🏽‍♂️

PEOPLE: You are NOT finding a "FIX" outside of this GitHub page. You are HACKING your SYSTEM with a WORKAROUND and there could be catastrophic consequences, especially for the less technically inclined. 🤦🏽‍♂️

THE ONLY TRUE "FIX" WILL COME FROM THIS PAGE BY THE AUTHOR, SYLVEON, THAT DOES THIS FOR FREE, WHO IS BUSY WITH BOTH SCHOOL AND A JOB. HE IS WORKING ON THE FIX WHEN HE CAN AND HAS MADE PROGRESS. There really should be no extra posting. Seriously? Demands, multiple ViveTool posts, etc. 🙄

Is ViVeTool Safe to Use?
ViVeTool doesn’t add new features on its own. It simply toggles the existing features to enable or disable them for your Windows system. However, since these features are experimental by nature, activating them may cause some issues.

TL;DR: TranslucentTB is not working because of the recent OS update that affected the actual TASKBAR itself. Simply put, the Windows Taskbar is not the same anymore. The only FIX will come from this page. Anything else recommended is a duct tape WORKAROUND HACK that could lead to system failure. In closing, temporarily not having translucence will not affect your production in or quality of your personal or work life. However, if this is the case, your FIX is on the other side of a room that has a nameplate on a door with the initials PhD or PsyD at the end of it.

You can also uninstall the latest windows update(and put updates on pause temporarily) as I have awaiting the updates required by MS changes. That is also a perfectly fine option. This is a great tool and a godsend for people using OLED TV's such as the LGC(X,1,2,3) as computer displays.

I, for one, am not going to use some workaround - including this VivwTool thing which I don't understand. I'd rather wait for the author to make the "official" change and download that once it's ready. And kudos to them for doing this - the one thing I do understand is that this work is being done by someone of their own back, unpaid for (as far as I know) and not a MicroWeWantYourDataAndWeWillGetItSoft.
