Hi Michiel,

big thx for sharing this project!

We currently use mailcatcher like this:

  • setup mailcatcher to listen on --smtp-ip 127.0.1.1
  • (either forward the http-port of mailcatcher or bind it to the "public/private" ip of the box)
  • install and run exim as smtp-agent
  • setup exim for local-delivery only
  • setup exim to use mailcatcher as smarthost to route all mails to (dc_smarthost='127.0.1.1::1025')

FYI: It needs to be another IP from the local range than 127.0.0.1 to make exim happy.

This way all mails from the box end up in mailcatcher without further adoption of the mail-configuration of any application or language-stack.

Just wanted to share this idea with you.

Greets,
Peter

Thanks Peter!

That's a neat trick.

Do you have any ready made patches against this packer config? Or some config snippets?
