  • Connection timeouts (don't accept() connections for certain intervals?)
  • Request timeouts (periodically stop responding)
  • Closing connections
  • Malformed responses, emulate request errors that are allowed in the text protocol, etc
  • Configurably go down and up

This would be useful for testing correctness of failover patches
