I appreciate the thought, however, most of the users currently building this toolchain are still using Ubutnu 14.04 LTS which is using automake-1.14.1. When 16.04 LTS becomes the new standard in 3-4 months we will move to automake-1.15 (since that is the default in 16.04). For now, users can just run ./autogen.sh if using an environment that only supports automake-1.15. I feel this is the easier way to handle the differences in automake versions between various linux distro versions. Anyone that is using Ubuntu 15.10+ should just be able to download and use prebuilts anyways http://uber.oceighty.co/TOOLCHAIN/ or https://basketbuild.com/devs/Cl3Kener/TOOLCHAIN if they have problems using autogen.sh.
