The HID environments

HID provides the following environments:

Production

The production environment is expected to have 100% uptime and stability. You SHOULD use production if you are setting up your HID integration for production, staging, or local development. We keep OAuth configuration for all types of environments on prod.

Staging

The staging environment is expected to be about as stable as the production environment, with occasional moments of downtime. We periodically sync the database with production. This is the environment you should use if you want to test upcoming releases of HID.

Disclaimer: emails (including password reset emails) sent by the staging environment are caught by a Mailhog instance, and therefore will not be received by their intended recipient. If you would like to use this environment and get access to the Mailhog instance, please contact info@humanitarian.id.

Development

The development environment is for internal HID development, not for HID Authentication Partners. It can be restarted at any time by the development team, and might contain unpolished or unstable features. Unless you are doing development on HID, or have been asked by someone from Digital Services to test against this environment, you don't need to worry about it.

Disclaimer: emails (including password reset emails) sent by the development environment are caught by a Mailhog instance, and therefore will not be received by their intended recipient.
