The game for me does not work and it crashes when loading a map (more, no sound is played).
The fix is to set the locale to en_US in the startup options (like many other games):

LC_ALL=en_US %command%

This because in Italy we write numbers this way: 1936,27 instead of 1936.27 and the game may read the numbers in a bad way...

you can maybe try to edit /etc/locale.gen, uncomment en_US.UTF-8 and then regenerate it with the command locale-gen.
