It's good to read the README before posting a bug report.

If you encounter a bug while using CS:GO, first search the issue list to see if it has already been reported. Include closed issues in your search.
If it has not been reported, create a new issue with at least the following information:
what platform this is occuring on: Linux or Mac;
a short, descriptive title;
a detailed description of the issue, including any output from the command line;
steps for reproducing the issue; and
your system information.

Please add the necessary information :)

I have experienced this many times. Next time, I'll get the terminal output.

Here is the output from steam. Does it include enough of the output from csgo?

Also, dmesg.txt.

Perhaps csgo doesn't handle mic input failures well?

@gdrewb-valve

I'll paste my system information below. Two things.

  1. I haven't been able to find a .dmp of the crash, hence I've set the launch parameteres "-debug" and "-enabledebug" hoping I'll get my hands on a more precise crash description which you can debug.

  2. I've experienced this with two different kinds of microphones, both USB and 3.5 jack microphone.
    The Steam Survey does not appear to detect any mic, however, I do have a mic connnected.

I've made an observation.

This is not a certainty. I feel that I should mention it, as it is beginning to seem a probability, to me.

Consistently, pressing the 'talk' button causes an immediate render freeze of a moment, which seems like ~250ms.

It seems that if I speak immediately after pressing the 'talk' button, the crash occurs.

So, I tried to work around this crash by speaking only after the rendering returns from the freeze. So far, this way, it seems that I was able to avoid this crash.

Since we don't know yet, I'll go ahead and report the render freeze as a separate bug.

@davidw-valve I've experienced a crash and I had -debug and -enableddebug as launch parameters, yet no .dmp was created, do you know if these parameters are still supported?

@mightyiam
Copy link

Oh, boy. So many times this crashed me out of a competitive game...

@mightyiam
Copy link

Definitely, this only occurs when I speak too soon. I have to wait a little less than a second, it seems, before I speak, in order to not get a crash.

Another observation, is that the crash occurs only when I let go of the button.

@mightyiam

@grzemach, I've noticed your comment on #500. Could you please see how similar your crash is to mine, here in #674?

@garciabruno
Copy link
Author

Hasn't occurred to me after 64-bit update. It used to happen whenever triggering the speak button, not letting go.

@mightyiam
Copy link

@garciabruno in that case, there is most likely more than one bug here, and yours seems to be fixed.

@mightyiam
Copy link

This is still happening.

@mightyiam

Still occurring.

@mightyiam Might sharing crash dumps? They should be located after a crash in /tmp

@mightyiam
Copy link

@garciabruno I've been trying for several minutes now, to trigger the crash and couldn't.

The only thing that seems to be different, is that I tried on game modes other than competitive.

Obviously, because I wouldn't like to have a crash in competitive mode.

Yet, it seems that I'll have to do just that.

@mightyiam
Copy link

And now I played a competitive game and tried to trigger the crash and also couldn't. I don't trust that it is gone, though. There was no update since 3 days ago. Last seems to be this.

I'm not sure if this helps, I opened a ticket regarding a very similar issue. #1328 In my report, I've been able to identify that it's a new processes that's spawning that causes it. While it happens, kill that last process and your game will resume.

Still happening, I can ez crash csgo 4times in 1 competitive match because of this, resulting in a full PC restart.
