Segmentation fault in steam.sh: line 561 #1226
Comments
This is likely the same as #1216 - I just didn't search for "строка 443", but only "line 443". How silly of me. :) Anyway, it looks like it may be related to #1075 - but none of the reports there have mentioned line 443, and there are no |
I get nearly the same error message. I'm using Manjaro Linux with Kernel 3.4 and Nvidia driver version 310.19
|
I think I'm having the same problem. This is even after an apt-get purge of steam on Ubuntu 12.10. I tried the fixes in #1075 and they don't seem to work. As Fresco said, I seem to not have any
|
It seems to work again. |
Is this issue still active or is it OK to close now? |
I have the same problem on Fedora 17 x64 since last update of Steam:
I'm not sure if it's the same problem or not. |
I am getting fault at line 561 too after the feb 8th update. Fully updated Arch Linux x86_64 / Cinnamon. I did not want to start a new bug report as I am not sure if this falls under this one or not. $ steam |
Have same segfault as @jjkinas. STEAM_RUNTIME=0 works, however. |
this fixed my issue |
Fedora 18 x64, Cinnamon. It doesn't work since the last update (from yesterday or today, I'm not sure). Here is what happens:
If I run with STEAM_RUNTIME=0, it seems to work at first: steam starts with "Extracting package...", then "Installing update...", yet the same segfault happens when it finishes. |
[EDIT] solution from @slouken in #1468 fixed it for me! same here, Fedora 18 x64, GNOME 3
|
Yep. The error seems to have moved to line 561 now, and |
@Freso, you can get more information on what's happening by running steam under gdb: Thanks! |
However steammade an update (~ 57MB) a few minutes ago, it still crashes. |
@arthurwozniak, can you run the same steps as I asked Freso to do above? |
@slouken Looks like it's a Catalyst thing.
|
Yup, it does indeed. Can you try a different version of the driver? Do you know that your video card is supported? |
The update solved the problem for me. I am using NVIDIA drivers. |
kamil@kosmik:~$ DEBUGGER=gdb steam (steam:5427): Gtk-WARNING **: Nelze nalézt systém motivů v module_path: "adwaita", It's very weird. The same program without update and now it is working after rebooted computer. |
Also seeing a this segfault having something to do with catalyst, on line 561. segfaults for me too, except I'm using Intel open-source driver for my Intel HD 4000...
Here is the full output. |
Also having segfault (ATI 5750, fglrx-updates)
Updating fglrx to beta from amd site fixed the problem |
Using lib32-intel-dri 9.0.2-4 (Mesa DRI drivers for Intel (32-bit)) with intel HD 4000. Have removed package, ~/.steam as well as ~/.local/share/Steam directories with no effect.
|
Same here.
|
Can @arthurwozniak @sveinburne @idk and others make new issues for their problems please, none of them appear related to each other or this bug. If in doubt, make a new bug, if its a duplicate there’s no harm done. |
@johndrinkwater I would but i had resolved the issue by starting steam with the friends parameter, it successfully updated itself and I had no further issues... I shall delete my earlier post in this thread? |
Is this still active? |
Closing pending confirmation that this still happens. |
Trying to run Steam, I get a segfault at line 443 of Steam/steam.sh:
Running ArchLinux on AMD/ATI hardware with Catalyst 13.1 drivers installed.
