When I disconnect from the network steam has to verify login information. However, it is always unable to verify and login but if I exit the client and reopen it and login I am able to do so with no problem. Also I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with internet connection since fiber to the home is used.

This is the message I keep receiving every time I try to check 'Activity' or click on my Notifications.

Error
There was an error communicating with the Steam servers. Please try again later.

The main concern is that it seems to affect some games I play and I am unable to edit my profile or change anything when in steam client. I am able to do these things without issue through my browser however it is strange that it would act as if I am logged out even when it has just allowed me to sign in.

Please help if you can, thanks!

Per "Fixed an issue that could cause Store or Community pages to stop being logged in until restarting the Steam client" in the 2018-05-09 Steam beta client update, please opt into Steam's beta client and retest this issue.

@kisak-valve I'm not the OP, but I have this issue described in the issue too, and I had it before opting-in to the Steam beta client about a week or so ago. I am not sure why or what happens, as I'm not very experienced in debugging the Steam client, so if there is anything I can do to test and get more data, I'd be happy to.

My router loses Internet connectivity for anything between a few seconds to ten minutes quite frequently. Each time this happens, I have to restart the Steam client to be able to play Dota 2, because if I start Dota 2 after losing and then restoring the Internet connection Dota 2 will not be able to establish a connection to the Dota 2 Game Coordinator.

Same here. If I put the computer to sleep or roam from one network to another, Steam will fail to connect until I restart it. I've had it successfully reconnect after being left open for a long time (over a day), but I can't reproduce it reliably. Nor do I want to wait that long each time 😛
