  • Everything I'm contributing is my own work, used with permission (and attributed as necessary), or is very clearly fair use
  • I agree to put my contribution into the Public Domain (or CC-0, if that doesn't apply where you are)

I was hoping to do something on containers and docker, because it's quite important to both tech jobs and open source. But that turned out to be a bit of a mess, so this is the part that is its own contribution while I work on that. The main section I added is NAS, but at least I have something about VMs.

And while the short video is not directly related to a home lab, I feel it does answer the question in the heading -- in addition to being entertaining.

Really well written as always. I'll add a tiny bit to this later, as I want to make sure to mention the various data-destroying hacks such as https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2022/09/new-wave-of-data-destroying-ransomware-attacks-hits-qnap-nas-devices/ and https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/06/mass-data-wipe-in-my-book-devices-prompts-warning-from-western-digital/ to dissuade a bit from the ready to go solutions. Thank you!
