Areile Tracking List has false positives #7
Comments
I sent an email about a week ago regarding another false positive, and haven't heard a reply either. Pretty unusual, as this list maintainer is usually very quick to reply and eager to resolve any issues. What I'll do is give the maintainer the benefit of the doubt, and make a reminder in my calendar to check back on this on the first of the new year. If I haven't got anything back by then, I'll un-tick the list. Does that seem fair? 😄 |
By looking at source, there's a js-script hosted by develooper dot com That's positively a tracking feature to me. |
Then it would make sense to block the domain hosting the offending Javascript. Not the domain using it.
We don't block every domain that uses tracking features, we always block the domains supplying them.

The js contains a reference to `.mapper.ntppool.org` which is a NTP
Pool DNS Mapper with user UUID etc. http://ipv4.mapper.ntppool.org/
That's positively a tracking feature to me.

Yes, but cpan page should have a "this site uses cookies" warning and a link about what's actually done. |
I meant to reply to this on the 18th of December when I got their email, however I can confirm that Airelle has removed the domain that I was referring to in my first reply ( |

The list located here: https://v.firebog.net/hosts/Airelle-trc.txt has atleast one false positive: http://search.cpan.org
search.cpan.org is simply a search engine for Perl packages and should not be blocked. I've tried contacting the maintainer of the list, but I haven't heard from him in 2 weeks.
Maybe, this list should not be marked as free from false positives?
