Apparently inserting into an EnderIO Alloy Smelter from the top doesn't work, with the Alloy Smelter set to pull from the top. It does work in other machines for me. For example the Gendustry Genetic Sampler.

I suspect those machines only use the Forge item handler interfaces. Currently SmartHoppers works with vanilla-isque inventories only. This issue should go away for the 1.14 SmH version which will handle the Forge interface to other containers. A horrible workaround might be to stick a regular hopper between the fatty and the enderIO machines...
