From the "Stinky and Loof in Wonderland" issues document
Fancy, refractive water looks completely out of place alongside the original early-2000’s graphics, especially when lava looks so close to the original game. The deep blue color also clashes with the vibrant greens of e.g. the Jade and Garden textures – perhaps keeping the fancy effects while changing the color to a lighter blue will improve the appearance a bit.
Consider providing an option to use the classic water/lava appearance. That way, players who want a more “retro” experience can have the classic water, while the fancy effects remain an option for those who want it.
