this is a collection of random stuff from like, 2010 or earlier

at least a few files can be dated to 2006,
but as uploading them over ftp reset the
modified dates it's impossible to know most

i make no claims about these tools working in any reasonable way,
and there's a lot of leftover cruft / nonsense in here. sorry
