Yes, it gives a 404 error code and says can't display the page?

I get this error when trying to view the sitemaps in Firefox:

XML Parsing Error: not well-formed

I have made a post on WordPress.org but cannot find any solution:

http://wordpress.org/support/topic/sitemaps-not-working

Has anybody managed to fix this problem? I'm not using the NextGen gallery, which I have seen mentioned around the place.

@Jason404 Please don't try to hijack some else's issue. What you are describing is not the same as what's being discussed here. Please search the issue list and read other posts which may be related and may include a solution.

@jrfnl I can't see how this is definitely a different issue as I am seeing the same result.

I'm using New Relic. Are the other people in this tread using New Relic as well?

Issues #603 and #607 may be the same problem.

@Jason404 Issues #603 and #607 do seem to be the same issue. This one is not. You are talking about a XML parsing error. This thread is about people getting a 404 when requesting the sitemap. Totally different things.

I think a lot of things can happen during xml and xsl generation.
Look deep:

wget -Sv -O/dev/null http://yoursite.com/sitemap_index.xml
wget -qO- http://yoursite.com/sitemap_index.xml

So this issue is not leading to a bug but more of a support question. Closing.
