Evaluation of Automated Breast Density Segmentation Software on Segmenting Digital Mammograms Acquired at Magee-Womens Hospital

Introduction

This research project was done during the Spring of 2016 with Dr. Shandong Wu Lab Page as part of the University of Pittsburgh program First Experiences in Research. The purpose of the project was to use Bioimaging Informatics techniques along with Machine Learning techniques such as Fuzzy C-means Clustering (FCM) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) Segmentation to ultimately improve breast cancer risk detection. This was using mammographic images and running them through software in a MatLab environment.
