This will be a running issue to let people know how to submit suggestions for the status messages.

The status messages are kept in a list in statuses.py. They can be witty, emotional, inspiring, funny, meme-y, or anything you find appropriate and think will put a smile on people's faces. The only constraint is that it fit in Twitter's 280 character limit.

Proposed workflow:

  1. Fork the repo
  2. Add status message to statuses.py keeping to the existing style/conventions:
    • Each status should be in its own line
    • Surrounded by double quotes (")
    • Keep the trailing comma
    • Under 280 characters long
  3. Once you are done and checked for typos, commit it and push your work to your fork
  4. Submit a PR against this repo
  5. If you have a Twitter handle please let me know so I can give you a proper shout-out 🤗

Someone will look it over and, if deemed appropriate, will merge your PR.

Thanks for contributing!

So I noticed all the status messages have the word "hug" in them, is that like compulsory?

@Viennivre the Twitter bot tweets gifs of hugs at people, so while the status messages don't necessarily need to have the word "hug" in them, they should at least be about hugs (or cuddles or other forms of platonic physical touch).
