Please consider this patch that would use Alien::Libarchive to find the libarchive instead of Devel::CheckLib. Alien::Libarchive is more reliable since it will use pkg-config (or PkgConfig.pm) if -larchive does not work. In addition if the system libarchive cannot be found it will attempt to build it from source.
