No module named 'adafruit_mcp230xx'

This issue is closed but I did the forced re-install and am still getting the same error:
"AttributeError: module 'adafruit_mcp230xx' has no attribute 'MCP23017'

What code are you running?

python 3.5 code was running fine for several weeks, I had to make a new sd card for my raspberry pi, so ended up with a new install of the library( today). Previous install was probably ~ 4 weeks ago.(which worked fine).
