when closing the covers at night check whether a window is open and warn

also based on weather conditions

  • do no open in the morning (if too hot )
  • do not close in the afternoon ( if rainy)

also take into account open windows when closing in the afternoon

Just chucking this out there...

  • You need an opening automation for the mornings of course.
  • Then to make them work for their $$$.
  • A sun low / Light level high close automation. Same could be said because the temperature is too high but that also could be down to other factors such as heating and cooking for example.
  • A condition to partially close blinds where the window or door is open. This could be a great example to leverage actionable alerts. Either notify you that the window is open so a partial close has happened. Or when the window/door is closed trigger an alert to ask you if you want the windows closed now.
  • A close automation because the open window is now closed.
  • It's dark so let's check all the blinds are closed function.
  • Should the blinds open if it is too hot i.e. you need airflow or should the blinds open if the light becomes too low outside in the day?
What about alarms? What if you have a fire alarm? Opening the blinds could be helpful no? If the security alarm is triggered it is going to throw a spanner into the works for any intruder.

Not sure if these ideas help but I'd love to help you with the templating and automation for this. Right up my street.
