Introduction To Data Visualization

Visualizing your data can be a highly effective way to communicate your research results to a wide variety of audiences. This workshop covers best practices in converting your data into effective charts and graphs (i.e., visualizations). We will discuss how to get started, ways to tell your data’s story visually and how to thoughtfully use all the tools at your disposal. We will also work through hands-on examples using Python and the Python package matplotlib. (No prior Python knowledge is required, though may be beneficial.)

If you don't have Python installed on your computer, but want to run the Python notebook, you can use the (Python) version on Google colab linked here.

For those who prefer R over Python, I also rewrote my Python code in R and included a Jupyter notebook and R Markdown version of the same R code in this repo. If you don't have R installed on your computer, but want to run the R notebook, you can use the (R) version on Google colab linked here.
