It seems like company-mode is considered to be a better completion package than auto-complete. Would it be possible to add support for company-mode as well?

Sorry, no at present...
I'd like to support. But it don't have priority because there are the other developments I'd like to more

I'd love to see this as well.

I'll ask around on reddit or twitter what it would take to have company completion be an option.
