#Node

Remove any previously installed packages

Go to /usr/local/lib and delete any node and node_modules
Go to /usr/local/include and delete any node and node_modules directory
If you installed with brew install node, then run brew uninstall node in your terminal
Check your Home directory for any local or lib or include folders, and delete any node or node_modules from there
Go to /usr/local/bin and delete any node executable

After that, do this:

sudo rm /usr/local/bin/npm
sudo rm /usr/local/share/man/man1/node.1
sudo rm /usr/local/lib/dtrace/node.d
sudo rm -rf ~/.npm
sudo rm -rf ~/.node-gyp
sudo rm /opt/local/bin/node
sudo rm /opt/local/include/node
sudo rm -rf /opt/local/lib/node_modules
sudo rm -rf /usr/local/include/node/

##Setup Node.js v5.0 on Ubuntu (THIS WILL NOT UPDATE NODE)

###Build Essential tools $ sudo apt-get install -y build-essential

Download Node Source

$ curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_5.x | sudo -E bash -

Install with

$ sudo apt-get install -y nodejs

Steps to resolve "‘failed to fetch" error which might come

"Failed to fetch http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/dists/stable/Release
Unable to find expected entry ‘main/binary-i386/Packages’ in Release file
(Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file)"

1. Open a new Terminal window and run the following command (assuming you’re on the Stable Channel,
	if not, see the featured comment):

	sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-chrome.list

2.In the text file that opens edit the file so that the line reads:

	deb [arch=amd64] http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable main

	The only addition you need to make is entering the [amd64] architecture after
	‘deb’ but preceding the ‘http’. Do not edit or replace any other text in this file.

3.Hit Save. Close the Gedit window.

	Now return to the Terminal and refresh your package list by running:

	sudo apt-get update

(NOTE) - Update Node by deleting the previous version and installing the newer one

R

# Change the ubuntu package version from wily to your system's.
$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://cran.rstudio.com/bin/linux/ubuntu wily/" >> /etc/apt/sources.list'
$ gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-key E084DAB9
$ gpg -a --export E084DAB9 | sudo apt-key add -
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get -y install r-base
$ R

Finishing up

$ sudo apt-get autoclean
$ sudo apt-get autoremove
$ sudo apt-get update
