Project reporting often requires presenting indicator results and a narrative about the project performance. Reporting templates usually include prompts about what is required in a narrative section. Sometimes the narrative is about the indicators results (which RSR already has) but others it requires additional information that goes beyond the indicators, such as an analysis of the contextual implications on the project or a description of next steps, innovations or steps towards sustainability.

The ability to write these narratives within RSR is important to be able to produce a complete monitoring report. Also note that the reporting narrative is qualitatively different than an update as it is considered “more serious,” targeted commentary and must be included in the exported report for that period.
