CESM

Sunshine is based on the Community Earth System Model from the, one of the major coupled climate models that is used for long-term climate predictions. In particular, we use CESM 1.2, which is the current release and is under active development. The official User's Guide is an excellent reference, though it is geared toward researchers who are using traditional HPC computing environments.

CESM is a coupled model, meaning that it comprises a number of different component models that can be linked together.
