  1. this post should also include an update to the readme linking to this file
  2. you have a choice to submit this as a clearly written position from an external contributor in which case we can go with your ideas as written or we can do a point counterpoint. your call. feel free to mix in my points if you go with the latter

revise and resubmit. good work, keep going.

expanded comments:
I would argue the problem is not the deviation from expectations but rather the fact that the movie is too long and there is a wide disparity between the strong plot lines and the weak plot lines.

regarding rey's parentage the way that was treated in episodes 8 and 9 was just a hot mess. no argument there

regarding kylo killing his master, i think everyone loved the moment but the problem was it did not fit in the context of the trilogy. this is a place where the lack of planning for the whole trilogy really showed

first off re bomber: some people get mad b/c "how can you drop bombs in space". they are dumb and make me sad. there is no sound in space, it was cool.

focus shift. i won't argue what was the best/worst part of the movie. I will totally agree that often in star wars the epic scale struggles to connects to the day to day. but it is a movie, i feel the books are better suited for that.
