I am running R2017a on Windows 8.1 x64. I just updated export_fig to the latest version. In the PNG output of my figure, the spacing is fine between the legend entries but in the PDF, it's squashed together. Sorry for the PNG picture's resolution.

This looks ok on my R2017a Windows 7. Perhaps it's an issue with specific line types/properties, but without knowing the details it is impossible to debug. Please attach a reproducible code snippet and the full PNG/PDF files so that I could look into it. Also, just to be on the safe side, please retest using the latest version of export_fig.
