Thank you for the quick response and merriest Thanksgiving wishes! I started a branch forked off the latest public/stable release that installs clean and mostly works with React 0.14.x:
https://github.com/DimensionSoftware/react-async/tree/react-0.14.x

"make test" fails async components having the same root id as the keys in "data" become undefined__undefined. Maybe something you'd know a quick fix for?
