Revolution Analytics keeps historic snapshots of CRAN at the MRAN site:

http://mran.revolutionanalytics.com/snapshot/

We can use this to create unit tests for updating packages. It works as follows:

  • Install packages from snapshot date t
  • Set repos to snapshot date t + x
  • Update packages
