Is it okay if I throw some binaries in tests that might not be able to compile on your CI setup, or do they have to be a single *.c file that can compile with gcc?

That would be fine. We make no attempt to compile the sources unless we find bugs in them.

Additional comment: maybe the mailing list is a better place for these questions which aren't really issues?

Great, that's what I thought but wanted to double check.

Yeah, I'm subscribed to the mailing list as well, not sure how active is it though?

It's as active as it gets used! zardus and I both respond to messages on
it, as well as most of the rest of the team.
