Confirmed by moving nifi-registry.properties and other config files to an external location that I specified in bootstrap.conf using conf.dir=.
One thing to note that might not be obvious to people is that logback.xml still needs to be on the classpath, so it needs to be in one of the directories placed on the classpath by nifi-registry.sh. Not that this is in the scope of this issue, just mentioning it. Perhaps we can make this more flexible in the future.
