This PR suggests some improvements to the project's README file:

  • Migrate README to (Github flavored) Markdown file
  • Add some social badges to the top of the README
  • Add the project logo
  • Add a table of contents
  • Add a Getting Started section targeted at users of PLC4X
  • Add a Community section that directly shows the project's mailing list and links to the homepage
  • Add a Contributing section that summarizes some key facts from the project's website
