During a restore, the current FDB restore procedure is to start from the beginning of the backup, which is necessary for a full database restore. However, if the restore is limited to one or more small key ranges, then the procedure can skip a lot of files (versions) that are before the needed range files (versions). In this way, the restore time can be significantly reduced.
